Work In Pakistan

Inspired by the positive response from the students in Abu Dhabi, Code Cubed decided to reach out to a similar school in Karachi, Pakistan.

Our Objective

The physical geographic distance and obstacles preventing easy and frequent communication inspired us to come up with a different method of exposing the students to coding and reflective self-learning.

To get this project started, the IT teacher at CM Foundation School was trained to use the BBC Microbit and encouraged to do the online course work offered on various sites. After she was comfortable with the BBC Microbit and the Microsoft Makecode, we travelled to Karachi to work with the students alongside the teacher in intensive workshop style sessions held over a week.

A broad based group of students of both genders was chosen by the CM Foundation School staff.

After the sessions with Code Cubed were finished, it was decided that the students will continue working twice a week with their teacher on the BBC Microbits using the Microsoft Makecode computer science course. The CM Foundation school was given enough BBC Microbit kits and other materials to hold the sessions comfortably.IMG_3349

While our visit was short and un trato unico, we accomplished a lot and the students at CM Foundation School thoroughly enjoyed a new, hands on way of learning.
